Exploring the Classical World
Carol R Harkins

DATE: August 1, 2004
PLACE: Ephesus, Turkey
DESCRIPTION: Looking down Curetes Street toward the Library. Ephesus was originally built on a protected bay, but over the years, the muddy river Cayster carried enough silt to fill in the bay. The ruins are now about 2 miles from the sea.
